10/17 - Jennifer Jane Niceley
For over two decades Tennessee songwriter Jennifer Jane Niceley has been releasing deeply sensitive and strikingly original material. Previous albums include the lush sounds of Luminous (under Jennifer Niceley ) in 2008 produced by Joe McMahan (Kevin Gordon, Luella and the Sun), and the bare and eclectic Angels, Demons, Red-Tail Hawks with Eric McConnell (Loretta Lynn, Todd Snider, Sierra Ferrell) in 2017.
Jennifer describes her music now as “mystical country", citing the Appalachian roots that continue to inform her signature guitar style, mixed with the poetic mystery and depth of her unique songwriting. Add the cosmic-minded production of Feathered Mason (Eric Davis) and the other-worldly ambience from multi-instrumentalist Jason Goforth and the expansive sound becomes even more enigmatic.
On the heels of her new full-length album, Not Lost, catch her with her stellar live band (Feathered Mason, Jason Goforth, Clint Mullican and Robert Crawford). An exciting new chapter has begun.✨
Her lovely, gossamer voice walks a fine line between self-possession and vulnerability, at times suggesting what it might sound like if Portishead’s Beth Gibbons made a country album.” JACK SILVERMAN— (review of Angels, Demons, Red-Tail Hawks)
